QUALITY
QUALITY BEST PRACTICES
Consistency is rarely an accident. Rather, it is a result of well-conceived, rigorously
implemented measures that continuously improve quality of our people, processes and
products.
Below is a glimpse of some such initiatives undertaken during the reporting period:
Leveraging IT to Enhance Quality
We have intensified our efforts on deploying IT to drive quality across different functions. In the reporting period,
following computer-based processes were initiated which are at different stages of implementation:
Electronic label barcode verification
before dispensing
Recording batch rejection through
mySAP
Digital Observations Compliance
Management System (OCMS)
SAP-based statistical evaluation of
critical quality attributes
Auto calculation of coating material
Paperless Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
Learning Management System to
share quality best practices
Audio visual training module on
sampling, leading to decrease in
blend failures by 67%
Online monitoring of quality
notifications through quality
analytics dashboards
Generation and approval of
Certificate of Analysis (COA) and Certificate of Compliance (COC)
through mySAP, thereby
enhancing accuracy
Improvements and Simplifications
We are enhancing quality through minimisation of manual interventions as well as simplification
of processes. Initiatives undertaken towards this objective include:
Auto transfer of samples from
production area to testing
laboratory through Air Tube
Transfer System
Formulation of minimum standards
checklist for all time audit readiness
Code harmonisation and sample quantity rationalisation
Increasing machine availability by initiating OEE improvement projects
on capacity constraint resources across all Formulations Plants
Quality Benchmarking
Our quality goals are aligned with global benchmarks including the globally respected Pharma Operations Benchmarking.

These world-class competencies acquired by individuals will
soon translate into organisational competencies, delivering tangible
business results.
Vendor Quality Management
Our vendors play a crucial role in ensuring our quality quotient and hence we engage
with them on a regular basis.
Key developments of the reporting period include:
Strengthening suppliers'
capability of handling
regulatory alerts
Quality audits of suppliers
based on criticality of the
materials they supply
Standardised vendor management
procedures for service providers
and consumables
Quality Star Caps
To embed a proactive quality culture among our shop floor workforce, we have
introduced an innovative STAR (Situation-Task-Action-Result) Caps model. A member
from the grassroots employees' team dons a STAR cap and voluntarily takes on
additional responsibility of ensuring compliance on quality parameters over and above
the core functions.
After undergoing intensive training,
the Star Caps lead the team in
upholding quality by taking proactive decisions and sharing knowledge
with teammates.
