SAFETY
ENHANCED AWARENESS
Most incidents, injuries and accidents are caused by unsafe acts and behaviours and not just conditions and equipment. Hence it is imperative that the employees are aware of these unsafe behaviours.   The mechanisms we use to spread awareness on safety include posters, newsletters, dedicated intranet portals, safety quizzes, safety day celebrations, pep talks, weekly meeting, safety alerts and safety oaths.
Our safety awareness initiatives have three main objectives:

Besides these, all our new and existing employees as well as contract workers are inducted on site-specific safety procedures.
SHE induction is
mandatory for all
employees joining
Dr. Reddy's.
Site-specific SHE
induction is carried out
for all people before
entering any unit or facility.
Contractors working in core areas like
production, maintenance, etc. are provided
job-specific training (besides general safety
training which alone does not suffice).
Safety briefing is done
for visitors (vendors /
customers, etc.) at the
entrance gate itself.

During the reporting period, we undertook various safety awareness drives,
some of them are enumerated below:

National Safety Week
Units celebrated National Safety Week by organising safety discussions, safety songs, safety slogans, skits and a safety demonstration.
LPG Safety
Awareness
An expert from Gas Safety India demonstrated the importance of using a 'Gas Safe Device' to avoid fire accidents due to leakage of gas from the pipe or regulator knob.
Fire Fighting
Awareness
Fire Fighting programmes were organised to enhance preparedness in case of fire emergencies.

Safety Pledge
Employees and contractors
committed to safety by taking
the safety oath or pledge.
The pledge also obligates
them to report unsafe
working conditions,
follow all safety policies
and procedures, and never
take shortcuts at the
expense of safety.

Safety Promotional
Activities
Various safety competitions were conducted to recognise and reward the outstanding efforts of employees. These competitions were focussed on improving safety awareness as well as strengthening firefighting & rescue capabilities among employees.

Safety Exhibitions
A number of safety exhibitions were organised to display and promote use of innovative safety instruments and personnel protective equipment. Employees were encouraged to visit the stalls and clarify their doubts about the usage of instruments.

Safety Quiz
Safety quizzes were organised to ensure that employees have the basic knowledge of safety procedures. Participants who performed well were rewarded with surprise gifts.
