Changeover time is crucial. It directly impacts productivity and
hence availability of the product. The challenge was to reduce
B-type changeover time of all CAM lines by using 'single minute exchange of die' SMED methodology at Formulations
Hyderabad Plant 2. |
Several interventions including line-wise manpower allotment to increase ownership formation of changeover teams, availability of change part with respect to equipment and product, aligning all
the teams including CFT towards the set target and sequential
parallel activities were taken up. These interventions resulted in reduction of changeover time from 10 hours earlier, to just 4
hours. |
