Using Ready Mix for Coating

Coating is a process by which an essentially dry, outer layer of
coating material is applied to the surface of dosage form to
achieve specific benefits. The conventional coating solution preparation involves mixing of all the requisite ingredients which
is time and manpower intensive.
In order to bring down the time and effort of mixing the
ingredients, the idea of using ready mix coating was considered.
Three products each from Formulations Hyderabad Plant 1, Plant
2 and Formulations Baddi Plant 1 were identified and evaluated for using ready mix coating and the necessary documentation
for regulatory filings, change implementation etc., was put in place
and project timelines chalked out.
Successful implementation of ready mix coating
has freed-up capacity and manpower in the
respective units. It has also reduced product
cycle time.
